a recap of 2018 – part five

With the High School Musical chapter about to end, the new RENT chapter is about to start. My schedule is getting rather busy. However, these last months of the year have been one of my best in a long, long time.

High School Musical – November 2018

High School Musical has come to an end. Nine months that flew by. The complete cast has surprised me a lot the last few weeks; they have grown so much in such a short time! The weeks before the show you could feel the excitement growing and we grew closer as a group. Seeing everything come together (the décor, the staging, the music) gave such a boost to everyone’s confidence and enthusiasm. I was so very eager to get on stage, I wasn’t even nervous.

Playing your last show, knowing you are going to sing a song for the last time, having a conversation for the last time, is a most interesting phenomenon. It is such a touching and emotional experience. And I feel lucky to have had the experience. Thank you all my dear High School Musical family!

RENT – November 2018

Having experienced the High School Musical ride, I was impatient to get started with RENT. High School Musical, however fun, is not a very emotional rollercoaster. RENT is the opposite. It deals with depression, loss, addiction, death, but also hope, fun, friendship and love.  I knew that emotions would peak (both high and low).

After just a few rehearsals I knew this group was special. While digging into our darkest moments together, many us broke down. We cried. Basically in front of strangers. But we were strangers no more. Instead of saying hello, we hug. Instead of saying goodbye, we hug. It is the most loving family I have ever experienced and it just fits RENT so well… I can’t wait to see what we will do in June 2019.

December 2018

This year has been nothing short of amazing. I have met so many great, new people. I have made new friends that feel like family. People I have grown so close with (you know who you are!), in such a short time, it is almost scary and yet so amazing. I want to thank you all for letting me into your life and sharing your love with me. For trusting me, for believing in me and my skills. Thanks to you, I feel much more confident than I ever have.

So what about 2019? I have increased my ambition for singing and acting. I also actively looking for small acting parts these days. It’s a shame I don’t have a lot of time and it is often difficult to combine with my job and normal life, but that’s the way it is. On top of that, I also started recording small bits of songs (covers) to post them on social media (mainly Instagram). So I hope you will see and hear a lot more from me in the coming weeks / months! Happy New Year!
